Monitored Alarm Systems.

Jun 11, 2013

The installation of a residential alarm system is one of the most prudent steps you can take to help protect your family and property. The following information will assist you when deciding to install or upgrade an alarm system in your home.

Residential Alarm Systems can be classified as either “monitored” or ‘local”.

A local burglar alarm sends a signal to a central monitoring station when the alarm has been tripped, in addition to setting off a local siren. A local alarm does not send a signal to a monitoring station, only a siren is activated at the home.

A monitored alarm system provides a 24 hour response to all alarms by informing trained personnel that the alarm system has been triggered. The property owner and/or an appointed contact person are then contacted immediately and informed of the situation. Once an illegal entry is confirmed authorities are notified to respond. Additionally, trained security guards can be dispatched immediately to the home to investigate the situation. A local alarm system does not enable authorities to be dispatched to the scene of an alarm.
